Objectives and topics

The objective of this special session is to bring together researchers, engineers, and practitioners to explore how intelligent computing and data-driven approaches are reshaping modern control systems. With the rapid growth of machine learning, data mining, and embedded intelligence, control systems are becoming increasingly adaptive, autonomous, and capable of handling complex, uncertain environments. This session emphasizes advances in intelligent computing techniques that enhance decision-making, the integration of data-driven methods with model-based control strategies, and the presentation of real-world applications in robotics, mechatronics, automation, and cyber-physical systems, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across computer science, control engineering, and applied domains. The major goal of this special session is to bring together researchers and practitioners in intelligent computing and data-driven control to highlight emerging challenges, address real-world application needs.

The scope of this special session includes, but is not limited to the following topics:

  • Data-driven control methods for intelligent and autonomous systems
  • Intelligent computing architectures for robotics, mechatronics, and embedded systems
  • Data mining and big data analytics in control and decision-making
  • Neural networks and deep learning in adaptive, robust, and predictive control
  • Hybrid control strategies combining model-based and data-driven approaches
  • Optimization algorithms for intelligent control
  • Image processing and perception for intelligent computing in control systems
  • Embedded intelligence and real-time intelligent control
  • Applications in smart manufacturing, IoT (Internet of Things), and healthcare
  • Human–machine interaction and cooperative data-driven control.
