Objectives and topics

The dynamic growth of ICT in the last few years has initiated a shift of well-developed and developing business networks in the direction of an information society. On the basis of an information “order”, new supply chains called intelligent and electronic have emerged. The new approach to supply chain management has caused changes in the logic of enterprise organization and increase the role of cooperation. Knowledge, unique resources, and key responsibilities are being brought to the foreground. Increasing competitiveness is forcing a new organizational model characterized by newer and faster alliances that are created more frequently. The aim of this special session is to present the new organizational models which are based on networks and constitute a response to the changes brought about by the era of the information society. The intelligent and distributed solutions seem to provide an appropriate framework for quick-response to crisis economy shifts.

There are many emerging issues in this research area with big potential for their application. Both theoretical and practical approaches in the area are welcome.
