However, among all of the technologies, blockchain is one of the fastest-growing and effective digital technology that drive positive impact at an immense scale by the align network value creation through participation in the network and enabling an incentive system that can bring benefits to the entire network. Transparency, privacy, smart contracts, process efficiency, and automation are core competencies of blockchain technology that can be leveraged to deliver sustainable development in different industries. Blockchain-based applications have the potential to address the key challenges and opportunities in enhancing positive social and environmental impact, especially in the health, finance energy, transport, and agriculture industries. Although blockchain transactions are secured and trusted, it is also considered a highly energy-intensive technology. Therefore, It is necessary to balance the longer-term benefits against the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel consumption and consider applications of other digital technologies for sustainable development. This session aims to propose researchers and practitioners a possibility to deeply dive into the topic linked to digital technologies and sustainability to identify new promising solutions and directions.
